The MLK Unity 5K Run/Walk is in collaboration with the City of Southaven and has been supported by the Southaven Mayor’s office, Mayor’s Youth Council, local churches and citizens of DeSoto County. This event began as a small walk but has grown into an annual tradition and since has expanded into a 5K Run/Walk. Its purpose is to celebrate unity amongst peers and the value added by asking all ethnic groups to recognize the ties that bind us all together with people from all walks of life to work together as one group.

From West/1-55 to Getwell: (Exit 289 –Goodman Road) Travel east on Goodman Rd to Getwell.
From East/ Hwy 78 to Getwell: (Exit 289-Goodman Road/Hwy 302) Travel west on Goodman Rd to Getwell.
From the Getwell (North/South): Park entrance is located on the East side of Getwell. Enter the Parton May Blvd. Turn Right on Snowden Lane. Snowden House is located on the right side of this street.

Entry fee is $35 ($40 after January 7, 2023)

Alternative Options
For those that wish to join us at the race site, we are offering a “start as you please” opportunity to complete your 5K run/walk on January 15th on our traditional 5K course in Snowden Grove. Runners will start at 8:00 am, and walkers should start no later than 9:00 am to allow enough time to finish before the course closes at 10:00 am. This staggered start will allow for additional distancing at the start line and throughout the entire course. Finish area protocol: Volunteers will wear masks and gloves in the finish area at all times. Participants and supporters will not be allowed to congregate in the area. Medals will be given to finishers once they cross the finish line. This area will be monitored by race personnel and volunteers. You will be responsible for capturing and uploading your time for results.
